Our History

Jesus Is Lord Community Church of Bay Shore was originally the First Presbyterian Church of Bay Shore, incorporated on September 9, 1900.  Rev. John Redpath was the chairman of the incorporation meeting and he served as the church’s first minister.

In 1926 fire destroyed the Bay Shore Church.  The church was rebuilt on the same property with material from a church in Harbor Springs transported piece by piece to the Bay Shore location.

For a period of time beginning in 1963 the Presbyterian Church of Boyne City and the First Presbyterian Church of Bay Shore shared a pastor.  The two churches were officially unyoked in 2000.

Sunday School classes and Vacation Bible School are offered when there are sufficient children present in the congregation.

In 2011 the congregation began the process of study to determine whether or not the church should separate from the Presbyterian Church USA on the basis of doctrinal differences.  After 2 years of study, consultation with the Mackinac Presbytery and release by its governing committee,  the congregation became incorporated as an independent church.

The development of a Constitution and Statement of Faith took place over a period of several months.  The Jesus Is Lord Community Church of Bay Shore held its service of Convocation and Dedication on November 23, 2013.
